ELECTRONICS LAB TECHNICIAN/ENGINEER
LAB TECHNICIAN/LAB ENGINEER

1.  The person would be working very closely with the Measurement team
2.  He would be taking care of the Test & Eval lab equipment & maintenance
3.  Tester calibration and lab maintenance
4.  Maintenance of bench equipment such as Oscilloscope, power supply etc.
5.  Alternating between night shift & day shift for doing the data collection exercise on the testers
6.  Taking care of soldering & board reworks and schematic & layout verification using software like Allegro, PADS during hardware development
7.  Experience in making good soldering and replacing components on boards
8.  Experience in maintenance and setup of probers is a good to have skill-set (Preferably TEL probers)
9.  Exposure to any Thermo-stream maintenance and experience with Automated Test Equipments (ATE)
10.Knowledge of schematic creation/check and layout reviews
11.Should be a good team player

Senior Laboratory Technician

1.  Under minimal supervision, sets up complicated equipment and performs complicated tests within areas of responsibility where working knowledge of the underlying scientific and engineering fundamentals is required.


2.  May plan tests, evaluate test results and report opinions and interpretations.
3.  May assist PDEs and/or Engineering to modify existing methods or develop and validate new test methods.


4.  Initiates recommendations for new equipment designs.

5.  Provides feedback and may assist in development of laboratory procedure guides (LPG).

6.  Provides training and assists others in the laboratory.

7.  Examines test samples and reads measuring instruments, blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and operational instructions.

8.  Evaluates test performance, provides feedback regarding issues and/or problems with test and data sheets and reviews test and construction data with supervisor and/or lab work requestor as appropriate.

9.  Operates with minimal supervision within defined limits of responsibility.

10.Directs, builds and/or adapts setup and test equipment to new situations, based on data sheets and instructions from engineering department personnel.

11.Trains staff in test setups and test methods. Initiates recommendations for new equipment designs and recommends solutions to observed test problems.

12.Operates designated machines and special laboratory equipment.


13.Performs routine maintenance of designated test equipment and laboratory area.

14.Receives instructions from and reports data to engineers and other laboratory personnel. Communicates with clients during the setup and performance of a test to demonstrate or otherwise illustrate equipment test methods and/or to discuss test results.

15.Communicate with field representatives to discuss follow-up tests, samples, equipment, methods and/or results.

16.Communicates with the appropriate department personnel to offer suggestions pertinent to equipment needs.

17.Records observed or calculated data on appropriate forms and prepare data sheets and test reports.
18.Plans tests, evaluates test results and reports opinions and interpretations.

19.May assist PDEs and/or Engineering to modify existing methods or develop and validate new test methods.

20.Provides training and assist others in the laboratory.

21.Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job.

22.Performs other duties as directed.
