SAFETY INSTRUMENTATION SYSTEM ENGINEER

Job Role Summary Responsibilities
 • Serve as subject matter expert (SME) of instrument safety issues, resolving questions and issues through familiarity with industry, governmental, and plant safety standards.
 • Create strategy for the development and coordination of SIS reliability improvement efforts, processes and systems.
 • Serve as subject matter expert (SME) resource for Global Production Units, life cycle management
 • Develop and /or support development of all Safety Instrumented System (SIS) Functional Safety and related deliverables
• Participate and facilitate Functional Safety Assessment, LOPA assignment review meetings
 • Steward Safety Instrumented System (SIS) performance and metrics and long-term SIS bypass management
 • Assist in implementing and maintaining reliability programs and processes: Defect elimination, Predictive/Preventive Maintenance Plans, Criticality Analysis, SIS and associated metrics.
 • Provide capital projects Safety Instrumented System (SIS) support and consulting • Provide Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) / Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) support
 • Provide input for Turnaround preparation, including analysis of online versus offline function testing and maintenance of various SIF’s and devices.
• Assist with training and development of operators, technicians, and engineers in order to improve skill-sets with respect to LOPA and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS)
• Assist in training and development of Instrument Reliability Specialists and Technicians and SIS/PES Specialists and Technicians.
 • Provide leadership for implementation of reliability systems. Requirements • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.
 • Minimum 10 years of working experience in oil & gas production / refining / petrochemical industry
• 10 or more years of SIS experience in reliability and / or project roles
 • 15 or more years of instrumentation experience in reliability and / or project roles
• Broad-based experience as a Safety Systems / Functional Safety Engineer in Upstream or Petrochemical environment
 • Must have strong team-building skills with ability to build teams across organizational lines.
 • Experienced in the selection, specification, configuration, testing and maintenance of safety instrumented systems following ISA / ANSI -84. 00. 01 and IEC 61508/ 61511-1, NFPA 85 / 86
 • Experience in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA)
 • Experience in Upstream process knowledge strong understanding of process units and business drivers
 • Experience and knowledge of instrument and control systems through design and field installation
 • Proficient with the development of all SIS Functional Safety and SIS related deliverables including Functional Safety Plans, LOPA calculations, response time calculations, SIL verification calculations, safety requirements specifications, alarm specification for SIS /IPL, Cause and Effect diagrams, system block diagrams, logic narratives, and function / logic block diagrams
 • Proficient with SIL calculation software (e.g. SILSolver)
 • Thorough understanding of P&ID symbology and presentation techniques
 • Experience in SIS hardware inspection, FAT, SAT, loop checks, start-up and commissioning
 • Experience in SAP knowledge

QA/QC Inspector   I & E  


Test and inspect materials, parts, and products at various stages of production process to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
  • Conduct inspections relevant to the Electrical & Instrumentation Disciplines, including installation of duct banks, cable trays, cable, transformers, junction boxes/panels and instruments, terminations, loop checks, and functional testing.
  • Monitor relevant job operations to ensure that activities are performed in accordance with the applicable plans, procedures and practices.
  • Monitor associated Discipline work, Review/Approve Quality Reports and Records.
  • Assist in administrating Quality Control Program.
  • Issue Nonconformance Reports when there is a deficiency and ensure their timely close out.
  • Maintain and/or assure Quality Records of specific work in the assigned discipline.
  • Ensure adherence to Code Requirements and ensure that all associated Documentation and Quality Records are maintained.
  • Coordinate Quality activities with Discipline Supervisors.
Desired/Preferred Qualifications:
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant Codes and Standards (IEEE, NEMA, NFPA, NETA).
  • Competent in effective communication with engineers and non-engineers.
  • Expert in relevant QC roles (i.e. inspection of duct bank, cable tray, cable, transformer, junction box/panel and instrument installations, monitoring of terminations, loop checks, and functional testing).
  • Aware of People Management requirements.
  • Competent in Time Management.

Technical Safety Engineer_ Activities


Technical Safety Engineer

•Good at analytical problem solving, decision making, team leading and interpersonal & communication skill.

•Organise and participate in project safety reviews HAZID, HAZOP, BOWTIE, HFE, ALARP, SIL, etc.
•Perform Fire Protection System Design (including hydraulic calculations for fire water network, preparation of P&IDs, Datasheets of FW Tanks, Pumps, Fire suppression system, etc.)
•Supervise preparation of F&G system design, Passive Fire Proofing (PFP) and Hazardous Area Classification (HAC)
•Supervise and provide guidance in the preparation and evaluation of Plot Plans
•Review contract requirements for project execution, identify Scope of Work and develop Manpower Plan
•Responsible for management and control of the job executed in the group
•Assignment of Sr. Engineer/ Engineer/ Designer and preparation of organization for the project
•Ensure that all work performed complies fully with all applicable codes, regulations etc., as well as company design standards & client requirements or in other words, design control.
•Review Inquiry Requisitions, Technical Bid Evaluations and ensure procurement according to project specifications and within budgeted cost.
•Ensure that all the Health, Safety and Environment related requirements, as given in Project Contract documents, are fulfilled during the engineering.
•Coordinate with other functional departments within LTC for implementing HSE related requirements.
•Resolve all HSE related issues / queries raised during project execution.
•Report to the Management on overall performance of HSE in the projects

ELECTRONICS LAB TECHNICIAN/ENGINEER
LAB TECHNICIAN/LAB ENGINEER

1.  The person would be working very closely with the Measurement team
2.  He would be taking care of the Test & Eval lab equipment & maintenance
3.  Tester calibration and lab maintenance
4.  Maintenance of bench equipment such as Oscilloscope, power supply etc.
5.  Alternating between night shift & day shift for doing the data collection exercise on the testers
6.  Taking care of soldering & board reworks and schematic & layout verification using software like Allegro, PADS during hardware development
7.  Experience in making good soldering and replacing components on boards
8.  Experience in maintenance and setup of probers is a good to have skill-set (Preferably TEL probers)
9.  Exposure to any Thermo-stream maintenance and experience with Automated Test Equipments (ATE)
10.Knowledge of schematic creation/check and layout reviews
11.Should be a good team player

Senior Laboratory Technician

1.  Under minimal supervision, sets up complicated equipment and performs complicated tests within areas of responsibility where working knowledge of the underlying scientific and engineering fundamentals is required.


2.  May plan tests, evaluate test results and report opinions and interpretations.
3.  May assist PDEs and/or Engineering to modify existing methods or develop and validate new test methods.


4.  Initiates recommendations for new equipment designs.

5.  Provides feedback and may assist in development of laboratory procedure guides (LPG).

6.  Provides training and assists others in the laboratory.

7.  Examines test samples and reads measuring instruments, blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and operational instructions.

8.  Evaluates test performance, provides feedback regarding issues and/or problems with test and data sheets and reviews test and construction data with supervisor and/or lab work requestor as appropriate.

9.  Operates with minimal supervision within defined limits of responsibility.

10.Directs, builds and/or adapts setup and test equipment to new situations, based on data sheets and instructions from engineering department personnel.

11.Trains staff in test setups and test methods. Initiates recommendations for new equipment designs and recommends solutions to observed test problems.

12.Operates designated machines and special laboratory equipment.


13.Performs routine maintenance of designated test equipment and laboratory area.

14.Receives instructions from and reports data to engineers and other laboratory personnel. Communicates with clients during the setup and performance of a test to demonstrate or otherwise illustrate equipment test methods and/or to discuss test results.

15.Communicate with field representatives to discuss follow-up tests, samples, equipment, methods and/or results.

16.Communicates with the appropriate department personnel to offer suggestions pertinent to equipment needs.

17.Records observed or calculated data on appropriate forms and prepare data sheets and test reports.
18.Plans tests, evaluates test results and reports opinions and interpretations.

19.May assist PDEs and/or Engineering to modify existing methods or develop and validate new test methods.

20.Provides training and assist others in the laboratory.

21.Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job.
